Symbolic Moons of September 2026

Every degree of the zodiac has its own symbolic image (called Sabian Symbols), adding another layer of meaning to the astrology. I enjoy working with these symbols because they allow me to blend astrological interpretation with intuition. Because a Full Moon places the Sun and Moon opposite one another, I consider the symbolism of both.

As I paint this picture, remember that this energy is collective while also working within each of us, regardless of our Sun sign.

The Sabian Symbol for the Virgo New Moon is a swimming race. In a pool, the water isn’t carrying us toward the finish line. We have to create our own momentum. We have to put in the hard work and dedication even when we can’t see what’s ahead of us. 

A swimmer’s strength is built through repeated training. This is where Virgo’s routines come in. The small things we do consistently help us keep moving, even when our motivation isn’t there.

Water represents our emotions and intuition. Fear can make us hesitate but intuition helps us find our rhythm. We may all be swimming in the same water, but this is a personal performance. No one else can swim the race for us.

The Sabian Symbols for the Aries Full Moon tell a story of connection. The Libra Sun shows a group gathered around a campfire, while the Aries Moon shows two lovers walking together along a secluded path. This energy is moving from the familiarity of a group setting into a more intimate setting. 

We may be ready to bring another person more deeply into our own little world.  Libra is the air that fuels the Aries fire. Aries knows how to survive on its own, but this Full Moon reminds us that love and connection are survival needs, too.
